The majority of Colorado State is a highland territory, which is determined by the high chains of the Rocky Mountains. The only exceptions are the narrow valleys of the Colorado-, Arkansas and South-Platte Rivers. The middle part of the state is covered with evergreen forests, its Eastern and Western parts are grasslands, called the prairie. The majority of the settlements are found in the central part of the state, its Eastern and Western parts are sparsely populated. The largest cities that are located in the middle are: Fort Collins, Boulder, Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo.

The largest city of Colorado is Denver, which is also the capital of the state. It is a transformational, administrational, commercial educational and a cultural center. It has many higher educational institutions, like the University of Denver, the University of Colorado, the Colorado Christian University and the Regis University. If we have the chance to visit Denver, it’s worth to look the beautiful building of the State Capitol up, or visit the Colorado History Museum, which introduces the history of the city and the state to us. The Denver Art Museum has a magnificent artistic collection on display. If you’re looking for a little fun, you ought to visit the neighborhoods of Larimer Square and the Lower Downtown. These are the entertainment and shopping quarters of the city with various shops, bars and restaurants. We can also have a rest in the City Park, the largest park of Denver. The Denver Zoo is situated in this park.

The second largest city of the state is Colorado Springs, which is an important tourism and educational center. Its higher educational institutions are the US Air Force Academy and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. It’s worth to pay a visit to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, which introduces us to the history of the city, and to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame, which is an exhibition about the history of rodeo on the Wild West.

Canon City also has a few interesting surprises for us: the tallest suspension bridge of the world, the George Bridge and Park, which spans over the valley of the Arkansas River.

Colorado is famous for its astonishing national parks and memorial places, which are: the Rocky Mountain National Park, the Great Sand Dunes National Monument, the Mesa Verde National Park, the Colorado National Monument and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. We can sign up for adventure trips, rafting and mountain climbing in these parks.

The state is famous for its ski resorts too. There are: Aspen, Vail, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Crested Butte, Snowmass, Winter Park and Steamboat Springs. The ski-resorts are full in winter, since millions of people come here from all over the country.
