The greater part of Missouri is flat and hilly. Its highest point over the sea-level is below 600 meters. The Northern and central regions of the state are plough-lands with a well-developed agriculture, while the Southern region is covered with forests. The two large cities are Kansas City and St. Louis. The middle-sized cities are: St. Joseph on the North, Columbia and the capital, Jefferson City in the central region and Joplin, Springfield and Cape Girardeau in the South.

St. Louis is the second largest city of the state. It lies near the meeting of the Missouri and the Mississippi Rivers, in the Eastern region. It is also an important transformational, educational, cultural, commercial and industrial center. It has a busy harbor too. Go and visit the famous museums of the city: the Missouri History Museum, which is about the history of the city; the St. Louis Art Museum, which is a fantastic artistic collection; and the Museum of Westward Expansion-t, which tells to story of the discovery of the Wild West. If you have some extra time, take a walk in the popular Forest Park, which is one of the largest city parks in the USA. It’s also recommended to check out the building of the Old Courthouse, which is among the oldest buildings in the city, and the Gateway Arch, which is a 192 meters tall monument, and also the main sight of the city. If you wan to enjoy yourself, go to the Laclede Landing, which is the entertainment quarter of St. Louis with restaurants, bars, blues pubs and festivals. You might also want to visit is the Anheuser-Busch Brewery, which is the largest brewery in the world. They are the vendors of the famous Budweiser beer, and you’ll have the chance to get familiar with the mysteries of brewing. The universities of the city are the Washington University, the Webster University, the Maryville University of St. Louis, the Lindenwood University, and the St. Louis University.

The capital of Missouri is Jefferson City, situated of the riverside of the Missouri. It is a busy port on the river, and is the center of administration. It’s worth to take a look at the buildings from the 19th century in the old downtown, and the Missouri State Capitol, which was built in the early 20th century. The Missouri State Museum is situated in the building, which introduces the visitors to the history of the state.
