Maryland State is split into two by the Chesapeake Bay, where we may find several beautiful islands and peninsulas. There are smaller and larger cities, resorts and fishing-villages along the coastline. There are also a many busy harbors here too. Its capital is Annapolis and the largest city is Baltimore. Both are situated on the seashore of the Chesapeake Bay.

Annapolis offers a fantastic scene with its houses that are a few hundred years old. It is a truly unique little town on the East coast. This is the headquarters of the US Navy Academy. It’s worth to visit the Barge House Museum, the magnificent building of Maryland State House and the Williams Paca House, which was the beautiful residence of the former governor, who signed the Declaration of Independence.

The busy Baltimore is an important harbor on the East coast. It is the cultural and commercial center of the state. It’s rich in sights, from which I’d like to highlight a few. It’s worth to visit the Baltimore Museum of Art, which is a fantastic artistic collection with painting from Van Gogh and Picasso; the Walter’s Art Gallery, which has antique Greek and Roman creations on display; and the Baltimore Museum of Industry, which is an industrial exhibition. We may watch a fantastic opera in the Lyric Opera House, or we might also visit the National Aquarium, where we’ll meet dolphins and seals.

The other settlements of Maryland also have interesting sight to show to the visitors. It’s worth to visit Ocean City on the shore of the Atlantic-Ocean. It offers sandy beaches and hotels for the guests, which will satisfy all our needs.

We might travel to Havre de Grace, and visit the famous lighthouse, the Concord, which was built in the 19th century. We may also visit the scenery of the civil war between 1861 and 1865, the Antietam National Battlefield.
